Sunday in Paris

I woke up this morning to read the news on Aol.  The main new item is that  all of Europe is under a severe watch for terrorist attacks against Americans. Great huh!  As I read over the article it said that there are mixed emotions about releasing this news.  Obama does not want to make the risk so severe that Americans will start fleeing out of the countries but just to make them alert that something could happen anywhere in Europe and against Americans.  I read this early in the morning and where it is 8am in France it is 2 am in Chicago.  The article said that Obama would make the announcement on Sunday.    At first I was not nervous until i could not get online with aol|mail,  email is my lifeline to America and then I was a little scared.  So rather than worry about it as John was still sleeping I went back to bed.  I got up next at 10am and again tried to go online.  this time it worked and i was able to email my friends who are coming over how they might get ahold of me if the email does not work.  I have my cell phone and also if they read my blog they can make a comment.
After I wrote my emails I got dressed and went out to purchase a newspaper for John.  I bought 2,(in english of course) neither one had any news about the terrorist scare.  The weather on the street was sunny and people were busy eating breakfast or lunch at the cafe's.  I also went to a boulanger for warm french bread, croisants and I could not resist a good helping of a cheese quiche. I brought these items back to the apartment and made john some fried eggs, ham and toast.  he was most appreciative.  I had some of the warm french loaf with jam and half of the quiche'.  I also made coffee for me and tea for John.  It is nice to have a kitchen.  We read the papers. I washed the dishes and then we took a nap.  I slept until 3 and went out to see where the laundro mat was located, the taxie stand and the hair dresser.  I saw a Starbucks and went into have a cafe latta, granda. cost 4.30 euros.  As no grocery stores were open I went back to the apartment to tell John of my finds.   We went out again at 730 to eat dinner at an Italian restaurant called the Comedian.  I ordered the laganna and John tried to fillet of beef one more time.  I warned him that he would not like it but he tried it anyway and agreed that it to was not what he expected.  They did give him however a nice serving of noodles that were sort of stroganoff noodles.  My laganna was okay.  We finished it off with a dessert.  John had a banana split and I had the three  dips of different sorbets. Very good.  John ordered a cup of cafe but forgot to say Cafe grand and got a little tiny cup of expresso.  He realized his mistake when the waiter brought the cafe and I told him he could order another but he said no and that he could get a better cup of coffee back at the apartment.  We talked to a woman as we were looking at the menu.  It turned out that she was from Cannada, living in Toronto.  She was probably in her 70's and she told us that although she was alone for a few days she would be going onto the french countryside to visit relatives.  She said she was born in France.  I told her we were from Chicago.  She told me to think of her when we have a winter storm and remember that she in Toronto experiences it first.
John is definately ready to go home.  He feels that I will be coming home too earlier than I anticipate.  At this point I definately do not agree.  For me this trip is again  is just beginning and after Paris is my Italy trip, and after that ,Dona and I will decide.
We did not go to the bar that had the foot ball games.  John found out that we can find out the scores on the internet.  The Bears play 8pm chicago time and 2 am france time so he will wait till tomorrow to find out who wins.  Right now he is in dreamland dreaming about returning to the good ole USA.
