Assisi and Sicily

This is our tour leader Christina giving us some free samples of the olive oil and wine.  She was a great tour director and I appreciate all her efforts in attempting to please everyone.   The picture above was close to the salt mine.  In this building we had a delicious lunch of antipasto salads for 11 euros.  It was one of the best meals I had on the Island of Sicily.
These are pictures from the Valley of Temples which are in Agrigento.  They date back to 800BC

These two pictures are from Palermo.  This is the view from our room
This is a view of the harbor our Ferry from Naples docked at in Palermo
These next pictures are on the bus leaving Palmero and traveling to the the salt mines near Marsala
Here is our first view of the Salt mines.  Not at all what I expected

These are pictures of the Taormina area before we reached the wonderful Greek ruins of the Greek Theater

These pictures below are some pictures of the Greek Theater.

After we left Venice we went to  Assisi, where the massive Basilica of St. Francis is built above St. Francis's grave. Next we went to Pompeii.  I do not have phontos but I do have some videos which I will share with you later.  In the meantime, here are the pictures from Sicily.  The sights I saw in Sicily were all surprises to me. Sicily was wonderful despite the rumors of the Mafia still being very prevalent.
